After many days of promoting, introducing and launching folding screen products to the user community, on April 16, Xiaomi officially opened orders for its latest folding screen smartphone called Mi Mix Fold. The number of orders is published directly on Xiaomi’s homepage, and more frightening, the entire number of pre-ordered devices was sold out in just 1 minute.
There were a total of over 30,000 units sold in the first batch across all sales channels in China. This dizzying “sold out” immediately brought Xiaomi revenue surpassing 400 million yuan ($61.34 million). The price of Mi MIX Fold is $ 1,520, $ 1,674 and $ 1,980 respectively for the 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB versions.
Thus, the price that Xiaomi spends on its super product is about 500 USD lower than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and Huawei Mate X2. This is a very attractive price for users to own a folding phone and the number of orders speaks for itself.
Selling over 30,000 units in just one minute is an impressive achievement for a current folding smartphone, because the same number in other brands seems to only fall into the range of a few thousand units in the initial sale.
Before launching the product, Xiaomi has asserted its devices are of top quality. The company said that the device has passed the test of 200,000 times, but can be folded and opened up to 1 million times in practice.
Of course, a product in its high-end segment, Mi MIX Fold owns the parameters that are considered the best at the moment. The device owns a 6.52-inch AMOLED screen with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision standards, a screen resolution of 2,520 x 840 pixels, a 90Hz refresh rate on the outside screen and an 8.01-inch OLED screen inside, WQHD + , 108MP camera supports 30x zoom using liquid lens. The product has a battery capacity of 5,020mAh, supports fast charging, the ability to fully charge in just 37 minutes.
